![]() They were once regarded as a top-tier, premium plugin maker, and the high prices their big boxed plugin collections commanded helped sell that perception. ![]() Their reputation precedes them in all the wrong ways. TL DR definitely nothing wrong with using waves plugs, they got some extremely good stuff for little money, but the hate they get is definitely also valid. Never had as many problems as with the waves launcher. trying to go with current technology i guess. I used to love waves but i replaced every single plugin of them i used to use with stuff by other companies who are more. The plugins almost never have any oversampling, visually and functionlity wise theyre often unchanged in many years (some look cluttered af, not great for workflow) and with most of them theres just better alternatives out there but if were talking about the actual plugins and not the surrounding business model, what comes to mind is. Then with their sales updates are more expensive than buying the plugins again sometimes, so instead you buy what you already own again to save money (makes sense right)Īdd to that that they dont install like normal VSTs but you have to fight with these shitty WaveShells AND that it installs another WaveShell for every single non-current version plugin you own and it gets annoying In 9/10 cases the only reason you want to update, is that their launcher is designed around making it annoying and hard to install products that are not on the current version. Not the best money can buy (waves has their problems with oversampling) but you can NOT beat their price compared to what it gets youĪlso some really classic plugins with very little if any alternatives, that c6 is fiiiireeeīUT waves has many problems too that some people (including me) dont wanna put up withįirst off, the horrendous update plan. ![]() And ive kinda lost respect for the names that they have backing the products about this and that being "ground breaking" when it's quite literally not doing anything special. Or how the sales equal to the price or something. But the way they get around the legality is basically that they have a different name for each sale. Įdit: I actually heard that what they are doing is technically illegal with how they market and price everything. Their newest BB Tubes is a complete scam as well, stay away. Not to mention some of their plugins are nearly identical to another plugin they already have but maybe just a different design or one small other feature. I'm slowly trying to replace all of what I have of theirs to complete abandon them. I have a lot of their plugins but once I realized this. They even will do a "buy two plugins get one free" then the next month it's "spend $50 get one plugin free! Limited time" which guess what, every plugin is $30 dollars so it's the same fkn thing.įuck em. And their sales always no matter how the math works out. Then they will not have even a one day break before they have another sale. I have never once, ever, see their plugins for more than $30 dollars. I think what they do should literally be illegal.ĭo not fall for their "only $29.99 for limited time!" Or "lowest price we have ever done!" Or "every plugin 80% off for limited time!" Or "every plugin 50% off plus an additional $30 off with discount code GOTCHA" But I despise their predatory marketing tactics. isn’t simply a marketing gimmick - it shows Waves’ commitment to creating simplified signal chains for not-yet-famous producers worldwide, while inviting feedback from the guys who know what really sounds good. Working with successful engineers like Tony Maserati, Eddie Kramer, Andrew Scheps, Manny Marroquin, Butch Vig, Jack Joseph Puig. But hey, $29 if you get it on sale.ĪPI, DBX, EMI, SSL, and other virtual hardware models mean you can give your mixes a completely different character than whatever you get stock from Logic, Cubase, Reaper, Studio One, Live, etc. OVox Resynthesis does incredible things with vocals that can be achieved by few other plugins (maybe Izotope’s VocalSynth 2). NX is innovative technology, allowing your mixes to have the character of famous professional studios. ![]() $29 per Waves plugin is a hard price to match for some developers.įabFilter makes 14 plugins which have a much smaller use case than the wide variety of Waves’ 100+ plugins.
